  Using the Design Loop

As a young engineer, it is important to learn the process for designing solutions to engineering challenges.  Engineers refer to this structured process as a "Design Loop".

With EAS, students are guided through the design process step-by-step using a "challenge script". The more challenges students participate in, the more familiar and comfortable they become using the design process. Eventually, the entire process becomes second nature. It's kind of like "flash cards" for problem solving.

Educationally speaking, the process EAS follows is called "Problem based Learning". Research indicates that students learn and retain various academic skills better when problem solving is involved. Additionally, other life and employability skills are introduced and practiced while participating in real-world challenges.
